The place
परिचय
Telangana pairs the Deccan's granite plateau with four hundred years of Persianate court culture. Hyderabad has the Charminar, Golconda's whispering ramparts and biryani worth planning a trip around, while Warangal and Palampet hold Kakatiya temple carving, including the World Heritage Ramappa temple.
Telangana became India's twenty-ninth state in 2014, but its cities are far older. Hyderabad was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, who built the Charminar as its centrepiece; the bangle shops of Laad Bazaar and the Mecca Masjid still crowd around it. Golconda Fort on its granite hill was the diamond capital of the world, trading the stones that became the Koh-i-Noor and the Hope; a clap at Fateh Darwaza still carries to the top. The Qutb Shahi tombs sit in a restored garden nearby, and the Nizams left Chowmahalla, Falaknuma and the Salar Jung Museum with its Veiled Rebecca. Two hours northeast, the Kakatiyas built Warangal Fort's carved gateways and, at Palampet, the Ramappa temple of 1213, which joined the World Heritage list in 2021 for its floating bricks and bracket figures. Nagarjunakonda's Buddhist remains sit on an island in a reservoir. And then there is the food: dum biryani sealed under dough, haleem in Ramzan, mirchi ka salan. Signature journeys pair Hyderabad with Warangal and Ramappa.

त्योहार
MarThe first day of Shawwal, once the crescent is sighted at the end of Ramadan. The Islamic calendar moves about eleven days earlier each year, so Eid falls in March through 2027 and in February from 2028.
The morning that ends a month of fasting: white kurtas, the embrace given three times, and sheer khurma before anything else. Old Delhi's Jama Masjid, Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid and Srinagar's Hazratbal hold the largest congregations, and the night bazaars beforehand are as good as the day.

Non-vegTelangana
Raw marinated mutton layered under half-cooked basmati, sealed with dough and cooked on dum so the meat and rice finish together. That kacchi method is what separates it from every other biryani. It comes with mirchi ka salan and dahi chutney. Secunderabad and the Charminar lanes serve it from mid-morning.
